Open a CII invoice
Open your e-invoice in your browser, read the XML and print or save a readable PDF. Free, with no account and no upload.
In short
See supported XRechnung, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, Peppol, UBL and CII files as clear invoices, and save them as PDFs. Free, and the file stays on your device. Free.
Klarbon's CII viewer opens a Cross Industry Invoice XML file in your browser and shows it as a readable invoice, which you can print or save as a PDF. It reads XRechnung in CII and the XML from ZUGFeRD and Factur-X files. It is free and unlimited, needs no account, and the file never leaves your device. Opening does not validate the invoice.
What is a CII invoice?
CII, the Cross Industry Invoice, is the UN/CEFACT XML invoice syntax used inside modern ZUGFeRD and Factur-X files (FeRD). The Commission lists a syntax binding for CII D16B; Klarbon supports that release. A supported CII D16B file has a CrossIndustryInvoice root element; namespace prefixes such as rsm can differ. Its GuidelineSpecifiedDocumentContextParameter identifies the declared specification, such as XRechnung or a Factur-X profile. More in what is CII.
Where do CII files come from?
- ZUGFeRD and Factur-X. The XML inside these PDFs is CII (FeRD). If someone sends you only the XML, or your software extracted it, it is a CII file.
- XRechnung. Germany's format exists in UBL and in CII. Klarbon supports XRechnung 3.0 in both syntaxes.
- French e-invoicing. CII is one of the formats accepted in the French reform.
How do I open a CII file?
- Drop or choose the XML file, or the ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF that contains it.
- Read the invoice: seller, buyer, invoice number and dates, lines, VAT breakdown, totals, payment details and notes, in your language.
- Print or save as PDF from Klarbon or your browser.
What about MINIMUM and BASIC WL files?
ZUGFeRD and Factur-X MINIMUM and BASIC WL profiles carry only header data and totals, without invoice lines. Klarbon shows supported data. Compare the displayed lines and totals with the visible PDF rather than assuming a profile label proves which details were included. In Germany these two profiles do not count as e-invoices; see XRechnung or ZUGFeRD.
What happens to my file?
Nothing leaves your device. The viewer reads the file in your browser. Klarbon does not upload, store or log it. See what happens to my files.
Is the invoice valid if it opens?
Not necessarily. The viewer shows the content even when rules are broken. To validate it against EN 16931 and the declared rules, check the e-invoice.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Opening, printing and saving as PDF are free and unlimited, without an account. See prices for the paid tools.
